- MDSS : Dropsonde Receiving System
- iMDS-17 Dropsonde is used for typhoon observation and the observation data contributes to improve typhoon forecast. iMDS-17 has a temperature sensor, a humidity sensor, a pressure sensor, and a GPS module. Due to compactness and light weight, aerodynamic drag decreases its descending speed, even without a parachute. This means parachute failures can be avoided, and thus realizing a stable operation.
