Congratulation to Successful Launch of "DAICHI-2"

The launch of the H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 24 with The Advanced Land Observing Satellite-2 "DAICHI-2" (ALOS-2) aboard was successfully performed at 12:05:14 p.m. on May 24 (Sat.) 2014.
The launch vehicle flew normally and separated the DAICHI-2 at about 15 minutes and 47 seconds after liftoff.
"DAICHI-2" is mounting five units monitor camera which was developed by Meisei. They will be used to confirm the paddle extension in addition to performing a surveillance of the satellite condition during its operation period (5 years).
The "SOCRATES" of Advanced Engineering Services co., ltd, one of four piggyback satellites, is equipped with Transceiver, Magnetic Torque Actuator, GPS Receiver, Magnetic Sensor and Earth Sensor, and also “H-IIA” is equipped with Optical Camera and Picture Compression Equipment (PCE).
In addition, in order to check the weather of Tanegashima Space Center at the time of launch, we are also responsible for observation by the Radio Sonde.
